England’s top division has had its share of exciting finishes – Arsenal and Liverpool in 89 and Man City in 2011 spring immediately to mind. City and Liverpool in 2019 are a worthy addition, led by arguably the world’s top two coaches – the ebullient effervescence of Jurgen Klopp and the measured pressure of Pep Guardiola.
Overall, it’s been a reasonably decent nine months for us. Not a vomit-inducing rollercoaster or bowel-crushing flirtation with the drop, but not always plain sailing either. Mid-table is about right, although had some decisions gone our way and had commitment been more consistent we may well have ended the season wearing oxygen masks. An acceptable start to the Pellegrini era, with – hopefully – much to look forward to in the coming months. Such as the cricket world cup.
BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs MANCHESTER CITY
One of two games of genuine consequence. Brighton are safe – at last – and City just have to win to regain the title. Easy, innit? Away win.
BURNLEY vs ARSENAL
Of consequence for Arsenal, who will battle for fourth. Away win.
CRYSTAL PALACE vs BOURNEMOUTH
Of little consequence to anyone – apart from us if we lose and Palace win. Draw.
FULHAM vs NEWCASTLE UNITED
An opportunity to blood the youngsters. Draw.
LEICESTER CITY vs CHELSEA
Third place is Chelsea’s to lose. So they’d better win. Brendan Rogers will have other thoughts, however. Draw.
LIVERPOOL vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
The other game of genuine consequence. Wolves will finish in seventh, whatever happens today. Anfield will be loud at kick-off. Perhaps less so at the full-time whistle. Home win.
MANCHESTER UNITED vs CARDIFF CITY
Ole, Ole, Ole, it will be an important summer for you. Home win.
SOUTHAMPTON vs HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
They’re safe. They’ve got a decent manager who will target a top half finish next season. They’re playing the bottom team. Goals! Emphatic home win.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs EVERTON
It’s a bit of a come down after their midweek (what’s an appropriate synonym for ‘heroics’?) accomplishment in Amsterdam. But still plenty to play for this afternoon. Home win.
WATFORD vs WEST HAM UNITED
We’re in 11th spot. The highest we can finish is ninth, the lowest is 12th. Not that dissimilar to Watford. What team will Pellegrini pick? Draw.

To want Chelsea to win under any circumstances don't sit well with me one bit.
Getting beat by Wimbledon in the cup was embarrassing and just about as low as it gets.

Preferably the cunt of a linesman would have seen Perez was onside and we’d have beaten Leicester
That decision cost us a place and the money that goes with it.

No I wasn't cheering on Chelsea as I didn't even know what the points gap was between us and Leicester until I saw the final table about 45 mins ago.
I just think criticising West Ham fans for wanting us to finish as high as possible seems a bit weird.
I was disappointed with some of the performances this season but to say we didn't treat the cups seriously is not completely true. If you take out Injuries the starting line up against Wimbledon was still a very strong and experienced side and should easily have got through.
To lose the likes of Lanzini, Yarmolenko, Wilshere (even though it was predictable), Reid and Balbuena to long term Injuries was not an easy thing to cope with alongside Arnautovic being a twat and effectively going on strike for the whole of January.
Many on here including yourself were using the stadium as an excuse for our horrible home form for the first 2 years under Bilic and Moyes with all those heavy defeats but Pellegrini has turned that around completely where much to your disappointment the stadium can no longer be blamed for that.
We have played some good football this season without over relying on one player like Payet or Arnautovic. We still can't defend for shit but then we couldn't under Lyall or Redknapp either so some things never change.
I would say that if you take into account some awful away performances, losing in the cup to lower league opposition, conceding loads of goals, scoring quite a few goals, beating or drawing against most of the top 6, playing some good football at times I would say this has been a very West Ham like season in true Harry Redknapp and John Lyall fashion.

I’m with Sold here. Cheering on Chelsea so that we can finish ninth rather than tenth doesn’t sit well with me. It’s not like 1986 when we could have actually won something. Don’t expect any favours from the blue scum.

The only time Sold has wanted West Ham to do well in the past 10 years was when Bilic was in charge because he was Prowpa West Ham apparently.
